Behavioral Health Partnership for Early Diversion

Behavioral Health Partnership for Early Diversion

The Behavioral Health Partnerships for Early Diversion of Youth and Adults is a SAMHSA funded grant that aims to divert youth and adults at risk of a behavioral health crisis from law enforcement/justice system involvement to the crisis centers.

Activities of the Early Diversion Program include:

  1. Increase partnerships with referring partners like schools, law enforcement, and hospitals, and increase community awareness of crisis centers.
  2. Provide in-person services to people experiencing a behavioral health crisis in the crisis centers and refer clients to community-based resources.
  3. Collaborate with community stakeholders to increase crisis intervention and behavioral health training among first responders across the region.
  4. Develop an innovative community paramedicine program in Washington County to increase access to behavioral health crisis care in rural Idaho.

Want to learn more or become a referral provider of the crisis centers? Email the Early Diversion Program Coordinator Wendy Young at wendy.young@swdh.id.gov.
