Healthy Living

Health and wellness is shaped by the places where people live, work, and play.

Southwest District Health works in partnership with our community to identify health needs, develop interventions, and participate in community events. Creating healthy communities includes actively promoting activities that improve health and wellness, such as investing in healthy families; engaging communities to change policy, systems, or environments, and preventing adverse health outcomes.

We are committed to greater engagement in the overall health of our community and actively encourage community members to join us in becoming Healthier Together.

Community Health Needs Assessment

A community health needs assessment (CHNA) is a systematic process involving the community to identify and analyze community health needs.

The 2023 Greater Treasure Valley Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) represents an unprecedented partnership to align several independent regional assessments to identify the health needs of more than half of Idaho residents.

The top 3 health priorities for our region are:

  1. Safe and affordable housing and homelessness
  2. Behavioral health
  3. Limited access to care

To learn more about the top three community priorities, and more about the health needs of the 10-county region, click here read the 2023 WICHC CHNA report here.

Secondary data found from public datasets, including demographics, health outcomes, transportation data, and housing information found in this report can be accessed using the Idaho Oregon Community Health Atlas Some of this data is included in this report, but the community can access more data points and county specific data at the following link: idahooregonatlas.org.
